RAINFALL
Overall monthly rainfall totalled to 44.7mm, which is considered average when when looking at the MO average August rainfall for 1981-2010. This months total was also nearly half of the total rainfall in comparison to July's 83.3mm.
The highest accumulation of rainfall occurred on the 9th of August where 18.9mm of rain was recorded. Which also coincided with the second coolest maximum day time temperature of the month 17.8C.

TEMPERATURE
August's temperature average for Clacton was 17.5C, suggesting a warmer than average month in comparison to the Met Office temperature averages for July 1981-2010 of >17C.
The hottest temperature recorded was on the 29th of August, where temperatures rose to 24.7C. The coldest recorded temperature occurred between 6:19-6:29AM on the 31th of August, two days after the warmest day in August, where temperatures sunk to 8.9C.

WIND
Wind direction tended to dominate in a south-westerly direction until the 21st of August whereafter south-easterly direction was then the dominant direction. Wind speeds averaged at 3.4MPH, with 29MPH being the highest gust recorded.
