Nexstorm Lightning Map

This lightning map updates every 1 minute, at this present moment in time the trend graph will be unavailable.

This live lightning detection system utilises a LD250 Boltek station and NexStorm Software. Plotting lightning strikes up to 300miles away from the base station here in Clacton-On-Sea. This ultimatley covers the whole of England, Wales, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Southern Scotland, Northern parts of France and Western parts of Germany.

Founded in 2016 by Shantelle Robinson, the Clacton Weather Centre provides live weather, from a Davis Vantage Vue and is part of the Met Office weather observation website and Wunderground weather station network. From 2017 a live lightning detection system was installed, utilising a Boltek LD-250. This information is freely available for public knowledge. Educational resources and information is also available on request or via the education page.
